Join faculty from the Department of African American Studies in a film screening of the award-winning film When the Levees Broke. Following the screening will be a conversation about the devastation of New Orleans due to the failure of the city's levees to prepare for visiting scholar Dr. Michael E Crutcher Jr.'s presentation "New Orleans 10 Years After Hurricane Katrina." The film intersperses live news coverage of the event and destruction with interviews of politicians, historians, engineers, residents, and more to provide a first-hand account of the hurricane and the causes of its excessive damage. Students are encouraged to attend and bring lunches.

When: Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Where: 1250 University Hall
