AAST 111: Introduction to African American Literature Since 1910

AAST 111 is a course that introduces students to some of the most visible and influential African American writers of the 20th century, including Langston Hughes, Richard Wright, Gwendolyn Brooks, Toni Morrison, and Claudia Rankine. Students will be studying African American literature and cultural production within the historical contexts of urbanization, segregation, criminalization, and social movements.
